The McCandless Scouting Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2026 following the generous contribution of Mr. Richard Knight, given in honor of his wife Susan, whom he first met through his involvement in scouting.  Rick has been involved with McCandless Troop 329 for decades.  Following his vision, a small group of volunteers recognized the vibrant activity and consistent high quality programming of Troops 329 (boys) and Troop 9329 (girls) that has been sought after by scouts and families for years.

The foundation is govererned by a board of volunteers who are focused on managing assets to provide financial support for  the activities, supplies and programs of Troops 329 and 9329.  Financial support is also available for individual Scouts in the troops through a confidential needs-based program.  Since the foundation is run by volunteers with minimal overhead, 99% of the funds are used for charitable purposes.  

The McCandless Scouting Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose members serve one-year terms.
All board members are registered adult volunteers with the TroopS 329 and 9329 Committee and have a personal connection to Scouting as parents of current or former Scouts in the TroopS.
United by a shared commitment to Scouting, the Board works to strengthen and sustain the Troop 329 & 9329 Scouting programs, ensuring that the Foundation's resources and donations directly support meaningful opportunities and experiences for Scouts.
